Join the adventure of depedance!
A core aspect of the Formation programme is that all Formation Workers raise their living and ministry costs.
Building a team of support partners is challenging, but it is also an incredible way to grow in faith, experiencing firsthand what it means to rely on God’s provision through the generosity of His people!
“One piece of advice! Don’t stress about money. The Lord always provides!”
- Mary | Former CUI Relay Worker 23-24
Why is Formation a voluntary role?
All of our resources, whether they're voluntary gifts or a big graduate salary, are God’s provision for us. We all ought to live each day depending on God alone to provide for our needs and be grateful that he meets them.
We believe Formation is an opportunity to depend in a very direct way on God’s provision through the generosity of his people. CUI is a charity that all our staff raise support through a network of supporters who pray and give financially to the work.
All Formation Workers raise their full living and training costs. We know this can seem a bit intimidating. However, past Formation Workers who had to do the same look back and not only value this experience but also loved this aspect of the programme, as they could see the Lord providing in remarkable ways and grew in their dependence on him. It’s a wonderful adventure in learning to depend on the Lord!
How much will I need to raise?
It costs £750/€850 to take part in the Formation Programme (for the 2026/27 academic year). While this doesn’t cover all the costs of training a Formation Worker, it helps pay for conferences and training materials.
After the first £750/€850, all the money you raise goes toward your living costs for the year (food, housing, travel, etc.). This usually comes to about £/€10,000–14,000, depending on where you will live.
Those amounts sound huge, and they are, but CUI will help you with this by giving you great training before you start and during the year to help you build a team of supporters and partners in the gospel!
We’ve seen God graciously provide for Formation (formerly Relay) since the programme began. In the 30 years we have been running the programme, and among the 1,700 individuals who have embarked on it, we have never had one who had to leave due to lack of funds. So if support raising has been putting you off applying, it doesn’t need to!
