Prayer Diary

After the energy and encouragement of EQUIP, pray that students would return to their campuses with faith that lasts. Ask God to help them stay rooted in what they learned, build strong CU teams, and step out boldly to share the gospel with the students around them throughout the year ahead.

Pray for Trinity’s Fresher Week. There will be a games night, worship in the Front Square, an introduction to the chaplains and an Ikea trip. The hope is to connect with new and international students, help them feel at home at TCD, and share Jesus with them in a relational way. 

Pray for the CUs at UU Coleraine and Derry-Londonderry as they host freshers’ week events. Ask that they welcome new students and begin forming strong friendships with them, with Christian students quickly feeling part of the CU mission team and those who don’t yet know Jesus being given opportunities to begin to learn about him.

Pray for Freshers’ Week happening in Maynooth University this week. Pray for CU members to really connect with freshers. Pray that the CU remains a warm and welcoming environment, free of distractions from the Gospel, as it has been the last few years. 

Pray for Belfast Freshers’ Week as it continues. Please pray that Freshers would enjoy being part of the Christian community as they start university, and that they would be able to invite new friends to join them as they get to know one another. Pray that their events would be lights on their campuses amid all the other events. 

Pray for ATU Letterkenny CU as their new academic year begins. Ask that their stall at the Freshers’ fayre would allow them to get to know many new students on campus and invite them to join the CU Bible study. 

CUI’s All-Ireland Team Days are happening on the 23rd-24th. Pray that these days would bring genuine rest and refreshment to the CUI team, that shared time would strengthen relationships and build a deeper sense of family, and that everyone would leave with renewed vision and energy for the year of mission ahead.

Student Sunday will be happening next weekend! Pray that churches would embrace this opportunity wholeheartedly, that students would feel genuinely backed and prayed for by their church communities, and that the day would spark lasting partnerships between local churches and CUs across the island.

Pray for the first CUI Lead Team meeting of the academic year, happening on the 25th. Pray for wisdom and discernment as the team begin to make plans to shape the next year.

Pray for the new committee in DCU to gel well and stay united with Christ as their centre. Pray that they would be a CU that continues to be known as loving, truthful, and faithful to the gospel message.

Pray for Student Sunday on 4th October, when churches across the island will celebrate and pray for the students in their congregations. Pray that many churches would take part, and that students would feel supported and backed by their church family. Pray for churches to welcome students who are struggling or feeling alone, especially in October when starting student life can be hardest. Pray that students would share boldly what God is doing in their CUs.

Pray for the new staff joining CUI this term, that they would feel welcomed and supported as they settle into their roles. Pray that God would give them wisdom and confidence as they begin serving students or working behind the scenes. Pray that God would use their gifts to help students come to know Jesus for themselves.

Please pray for the Christian students in Castlebar, the CU there hasn’t quite established yet. Please pray that the Lord would guide them and give them courage and wisdom for us as we seek to support them from Galway.
