Helen McNeely
Chair of the Local Host Committee for the IFES World Assembly
Helen joins CUI for a year as the Chair of the Local Host Committee for the IFES World Assembly. World Assembly is a global gathering of 1,000 staff, students, and Board members from evangelical student movements worldwide. As host nation, Ireland will have a range of responsibilities, including giving a warm welcome to delegates, helping with practical logistics, and providing a wonderful team of student helpers to help things run smoothly. Helen has worked in Higher Education for 30 years, most recently at Queen’s University Belfast for the last18 years as Head of Student Affairs.
Although she joined the team full-time over the summer, she has been working on the World Assembly project for the last two years. Meeting people from across the global fellowship, hearing the incredible things God is doing on campuses in all corners of the world, and seeing students live their lives for Jesus every day have been both humbling and inspiring for Helen. And what excites her most about her role is the chance to develop a team of students from Ireland to serve at World Assembly. Her second most exciting thing is the chance to work with the lovely CUI team and support the amazing work they do to help students reach students for Jesus!
Helen says she has got to mid-life without having developed any talent for baking, sport, or growing things – but she does love hanging out with friends and will take any opportunity to explore the island of Ireland.
