The Roadmap To World Assembly
In a year, CUI will have the privilege of hosting the IFES World Assembly in June 2027. This event will bring together people from around the world who are committed to reaching students with the gospel and supporting Christian students as they live out their faith on campus.
But why does the World Assembly matter? It lets us celebrate what God is doing in universities and colleges in many different places and cultures. Whether in city centres or rural campuses, students are meeting Jesus, often for the first time, thanks to the faithful witness of those around them.
Through IFES movements, Christian students are discipled, strengthened, and equipped to make the most of their unique position among peers who might otherwise never hear the gospel. The World Assembly isn’t just a time to reflect; it’s also about inspiring and renewing people and movements to keep this work going for future generations. That’s why the 2027 theme is ‘Faithful through Generations: Students, Saints & Stories’.
Ireland has a special chance to serve the global IFES fellowship by hosting the World Assembly. Known for “saints and scholars,” we have a legacy of faith, learning, and hospitality. This is a chance to extend that legacy by welcoming the world and joining a shared mission beyond Ireland. But we can’t do this alone, so we want to invite Christians across the island (including you!) to pray for our students and for us. We want to share the joy of hosting and hearing stories of what God is doing.
That’s why, over the next year, our journey to World Assembly 2027 will focus on two main things: preparation and partnership. We’ve already started planning the logistics, programme, and hospitality that will shape the Assembly experience.
A big part of our preparation is developing our student volunteer programme. We’ll invite eighty student volunteers from Christian Unions across Ireland to serve. These students will take on important practical roles and receive training in the months leading up to the event. The programme will focus on biblical principles of mission and hospitality, helping students welcome people from many nations and deepen their understanding of God’s heart for the world. We’ll launch the student volunteer programme at Equip in September.
The second key element is partnership, and there are many ways to get involved! You can pray for the planning teams, student volunteers, and everyone attending. We’d also love to visit your church or community to share more about the vision for World Assembly. You can also support the student volunteer programme financially, helping these students serve and grow through this experience.
During the autumn term, we’ll share more ways to spread the excitement about World Assembly 2027, so stay on the lookout on our website and social media channels.
